Daily Fruit

Fruits and vegetables are important parts of a healthy eating plan. By following a healthy diet, you give your body the nutrients it needs to stay strong and work well.

Getting started

Start with small goals you can easily accomplish. Then set larger goals as you reach your initial goals. For example, you may set a goal to replace one of your regular snacks with an apple each day. Once you achieve that goal, your next goal could be to replace at least two snacks each day with a piece of fruit.

Keep fresh fruit on hand so you can easily grab a piece when you’re hungry. You can get more fruit by making a fruit smoothie with just a few simple ingredients.

Mix sliced fruit or berries into your yogurt or cereal. You may also try adding dried or fresh fruit to oatmeal, pancakes and waffles.

Try baked apples or pears topped with cinnamon and honey for a delicious dessert.

Make a plan

It’s helpful to plan your meals in advance. This helps you avoid impulsively eating less-healthy items. Plan for healthy snacks by including fresh fruits on your grocery list so you won’t be tempted to buy less-healthy snacks.
